E-N-G MOBILE SYSTEMS Delivers OmniLink 2000 to KTVU in Oakland, CA

CONCORD, CA - E-N-G Mobile Systems, Inc. announces the delivery of their OmniLink 2000 hybrid ENG/DSNG News Van to KTVU-TV in Oakland CA. The OmniLink 2000 system is designed and built on the Ford E-350 Super Cargo Van, and by incorporating advanced technologies in system design, the complete electronics package fits neatly into one full size rack. This weight concious design allows maximum space for laptop editing and news production, with ample storage space. The OmniLink package sports an AVL 1.2 meter satelite dish with an externally mounted Paradise Datacom SSPA that incorporates a block-up coverter. The Will-Burt 42' mast and MRC microwave antenna are mounted in the rear, along with a 7Kw generator, achieving good weight balance and stability for the vehicle. In another effort to save space and weight, we utilized a Scopus encoder/modulator in a single unit, and in addition to the savings in space and weight, the use of a similar GUI on a single device makes for ease of operation. KTVU put the OmniLink 2000 to the test almost immediately after receiving delivery and training. The system was deployed to cover the flooding in Guernville, CA. and performed flawlessly. John Stevens, the manager of ENG Operations for the station, was delighted with the performance of
KTVU plans to utilize the OmniLink 2000 as an addition to their everyday fleet of news vehicles, now numbering eight, and all built by E-N-G Mobile Systems. With the addition of DSNG capability, the station will have greater flexibility in live coverage of News stories from area's that were impossible to reach with terestrial microwave links, making them a more competitve force in the marketplace.
